Harry Sloan Art Videos All Rights Reserved    November 2009 WebsiteDesignByGeorge.com UPDATED August - 2011 Hosted by SunFields Saturday & Sunday  13 minute Art Video Saturday & Sunday presents two days in the life of a street theater mime edited to excellent cello music composed by Bach, Dvorak and Tchaikovsky from David Hamilton Music. As we follow the mime “Sticky Glitz” in his weekend routine we see that truly “All the world is a stage” for our protagonist. His audience is everywhere among the urban backgrounds as he seeks out his next performance. Sticky glides through a sea of spectators both repelled and attracted to his eccentric character. Regardless of the differences in their stories both performer and spectator share the same ending as performed in full costume mime, on the street, the finale: Death of Everyman on the Book of Laws next to the Wheel of Fortune and on the way home witnesses the Death of Democracy you don’t want to miss it. John Schwartz is the inimitable “Sticky Glitz” the well dressed down and out mime. For the street scenes we had a basic plan but much of John’s masterful performance is pure improvisation. This is my favorite movie because of John’s natural acting talent. John studied Theater & Dance at UC Irvine but this performance is from his heart and from his experiences. He presents the consummate portrayal of the artist thriving among his audience because the film is also a real-life portrait of John living his life as the artist. Mr. Mono 10 minute Art Video Mr Mono is terrorized by his own primal nightmare as he rushes to the end of his frantic journey. The video is not about the violence of terrorism but its long term goal of social and financial melt down in the victim country from fear, distrust, division and spying. These elements are reflected in Mr Mono as a single minded oil executive lost in a corporate maze. Ironically as Mr Mono scurries onward he is oblivious to nature and the spirit characters around him as he descends from a well dressed executive in his high rise office to a rag man wandering the desert struggling for his survival. In 1977 I began work on a concept for my new film. My basic question was: What will be the most significant world issues in the near future? Oil and Terrorism was my answer. Oil was obvious but terrorism in the USA was not a significant problem, yet. But I knew the ingredients were simmering just below the surface. John Schwartz performs a brilliant Mr Mono mime act and dance across a vast southern California stage. As director and editor I have seen frame by frame the artistic detail of John’s acting and his performance is a short film masterpiece. Human History 5 minute Art Video Human History is a fast paced animated art video with an original music soundtrack. The music along with the rapid images propels the viewer through Human History from a beginning of natural shapes and rhythms devolving into a jungle of man-made geometry in a chaotic soundscape. During the making of Mr Mono and Saturday & Sunday from 1978 to 1984 my spare time was spent experimenting and playing with my Super 8 motion picture camera. Stop motion (single frame) animation was my favorite but as you see in Human History my imagination was running wild. There was no movie concept in mind while I was shooting each film clip. It was not until 2007 that all of these diverse film strips and music came together as a digital video titled Human History.
