View From My Laguna Studio
This is a photograph from my studio deck looking at the south end of
Ramona Avenue. In the distance is the Sleepy Hollow area of Laguna
Beach and just north of Cleo Street. The pink apartment with the flat gray
roof in the lower left part of this picture is where I lived from 1971-73 after
my Army service and right before attending Sonoma State. And just to
the left (out of the frame) was where I lived from 1955-62, ten to
seventeen years old. These were some of the best years of my life. A
few sunsets for my new book were photographed from my studio. All of
the other pictures were photographed at Laguna BEACHES.

At my Laguna studio with a photograph of me in 1976 on the wall... Thirty
years, a lot less hair and many great film, video and photography adventures
behind me. This portrait shows me with a sense of satisfaction and
accomplishment having completed the photography phase of the Laguna
BEACH project. This period also marked the end of film and a beginning for
digital photography and video with all their wonderful possibilities.
”It was my good luck to grow up in the small seaside village of Laguna
Beach, California when it was still a Pacific paradise. The casual beach
life of the 1950’s and 1960’s unfolding in a coastal art colony was perfect.
After many years of traveling and then returning to Laguna, my opportunity
came in 2004-06 to photograph my favorite place - the unique coves and
beaches of Laguna.”
